Worship Assistants

Usher

Ushers assist people arriving for the worship service by handing out bulletins, guiding people to seats, assisting the candle lighters, and collecting the offering. They also sort the welcome cards and tidy the pews after the service. Contact Nancy Hildreth at nancy@cbsalem.org or 366-1408.

Communion Preparation

Communion is offered every Sunday at the 8:15 service and the 1st Sunday of the month at the 9:30 & 11:00 services. This person picks up the communion bread from the Hy-vee bakery and brings it to the church at least 15 minutes prior to the service. They set up the communion table with the bread and juice. Communion Server

Communion is taken by intincture, meaning a piece of bread (the Body of Christ) is broken off and given to the person. The person then dips the bread into the cup (the Blood of Christ) and partakes of the Body & Blood of Christ as one. When requested, go forward to assist with the distribution of the communion as directed by the Pastor. If you have further questions, Dave has a presentation available for viewing. Acolyte

Acolytes are children in 3rd-6th grades who light the candles prior to the 9:30 & 11:00 services and extinguish the candles at the end of the service. Contact Karl Jacoby at karl@cbsalem.org or 366-1408.
